Detailed Itinerary

Arrival and The Golden Circle
May 11, 2023
Welcome to Iceland!
One of the most popular day trips from Reykjavik is the Golden Circle trip, which follows a route to the north east of the city and visits three of Iceland’s most popular attractions, Thingvellir, Gullfoss waterfall, and the Geysers.
Thingvellir National Park (Icelandic: Þingvellir national park), is a National Park (the first in Iceland in fact) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s interesting for a number of reasons. First, it was the site of Iceland’s first parliament, and meetings were held here as far back ago as 938. There’s a museum you can explore, and a number of sites you can visit on a self-guided walking tour.
Overnight: Reykjavik

The South Coast
May 12, 2023
Iceland’s South Coast is home to some of Iceland’s most iconic sights. It’s here you’ll find the sixty metre high waterfall you can walk behind (Seljalandsfoss), the absolutely spectacular Skogafoss waterfall, and the beautiful black sand beaches and basalt columns at Reynisfjara, near the picturesque town of Vik.
Overnight: Reykjavik

Snaefellsnes Peninsula
May 13, 2023
Heading to the northwestern most part of Iceleand, first stop will be at the incredible Kirkjufell mountain, which sits as the backdrop to the Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall. Other highlights include the incredible Snæfellsjökull Glacier, which can actually be hiked on in the right conditions. The day will wrap up with visits to the 19th century wooden Búðir Church, the Gerðuberg basalt columns – 14 metre high columns that just jut up out of the landscape, and, fingers crossed seal spotting at Ytri-Tunga beach.

Overnight: Reykjavik

The Blue Lagoon and Reykjavik
May 14, 2023
The capital city is great for walking, so enjoy the unique street art scene in downtown before heading to the water for the Sun Voyager Sculpture and the Harpa Concert Hall, with its unique, glass architecture. Hallgrímskirkja, the church on the hill, feels very European and there's even an elevator to the top of the tower for a great view of the city below and panoramic views of the area. The Lagoon is a large complex, with the main draw of course being the huge, geothermally heated outdoor lagoon itself, which is a beautiful blue colour. Enjoy a drink at the swim up bars (the smoothies are excellent!), and enjoy smearing mud on your face before we head to the airport for the next leg of our trip- magnificent Norway!
Overnight: Oslo

Arrive in Oslo
May 14,15 2023
Welcome to Oslo! Norway's rapidly growing capital is still considered a small city, helped by the fact that it's surrounded by mountains and sea. The city center made for walking, and the outlying parts of the city are easily accessible by public transportation.
Overnight: Oslo

Oslo to Bergen: Oslo to Bergen by Train
May 16, 2023
One of the oldest ports in Europe, Bergen offers a spectacular setting surrounded by ocean, mountains, and fjords. We'll start with a ride on the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen—one of Bergen's seven peaks.
Overnight: Bergen

Bergen: 7 Mountains Hike
May 17, 2023
In Norway, the city of Bergen is most known for the football team Brann, the Fish Market, and the seven mountain surrounding the city. In addition to hiking, (time and weather permitting) mountain biking or canoeing, and a "fast track" down Norway's fastest zipline are planned.
The seven mountains in Bergen are Sandviksfjellet, Fløyfjellet, Rundemanen, Ulriken, Løvstakken, Damsgårdsfjellet and Lyderhorn.

Overnight: Bergen

Bergen: Oslo: Reykjavik/The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History
May 18, 2023
After an in-country flight from Bergen to Oslo, we'll visit the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History. The Museum shows how people have been living in Norway since the 16th century and up until our own times.
In the open-air museum, there are 160 historic buildings situated in beautiful surroundings and we'll see them while envisioning the joys and struggles of everyday life through the centuries.
Overnight: Rekyjavik

Final Memories from Reykjavik
May 19, 2023
You'll have the entire day to explore Rekyjavik at your own pace, experiencing the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of one of the world's great cities. No visit to Iceland is complete without visiting Pylsurs: The iconic street food hot dog stand known the world-over as "the best hot dog in Iceland."
Overnight: Rekyjavik

Depart for Home
May 20, 2023
"It's impossible to travel and return home the same person as when you first departed."

What's Included
What's included in an Ecopassports tour package?
Literally, the easiest part to explain. There's nothing worse than being "nickel and dimed" on a study abroad trip, so for this reason, our travel packages are all-inclusive. Your only out of pocket expenses are for optional trip or medical insurance, souvenirs/personal purchases, and extra snacks/bottled water. The trip is priced to be inclusive of airfare, accommodations, in-country transportation, at least 3 meals per day (plus snacks), admission to all sights and activities, guides, and taxes.
